| 01-Melina S Troubles by Alicia Keys |
Lead vocals are wonderful! A great voice talent. The voice that first appears in the right channel was a little muffled and indecernible, but it could have just been my equipment. Great song! |
| 02--Nancy G In My Room by Brian Wilson |
As usual, Nancy's guitar playing and vocals are impeccable. I'm not familar with this song, but Nancy does a great performance that makes it enjoyable. The addition of percussion would really round out this song. Hey Nancy, go buy a drummer...everyone should own at least one! :-) |
| 03-Markus Lullaby by Tom Waits |
Nice piano playing and voice. Top notch job. The song almost put me to sleep, but in this case that's a good thing! I enjoyed this offering very much. |
| 04-James I Can't Get Next to You by The Temptations |
Fantastic! I loved it! Great guitar playing and vocals, and a superb interpretation. The transition from Soul to Rock/Pop was done brilliantly! I can't say enough good things about this song. |
| 05-Iggy Dreamer by Ozzie Osbourne |
Wonderful song! I am a die-hard Ozzy fan, and
Iggy's keyboard skills, as usual, are fantastic. Great vocals too, this
song was a good choice for his range. I really can't think of much to
criticize, except for the guitar solo...hey Iggy, was Zakk Wylde busy
or something?
Ozzy has said that Imagine is one of his favorite songs, and Dreamer is his tribute to John and his song...I think John would be pleased with the tribute and Iggy's rendition. Two thumbs up! |
| 06-Solpig Buona Sera by Louis Prima |
Nice guitar playing. Vocals hit a clunker in the first verse, but had good emotion throughout the song. However, I don't think I'd quit my job and join Star Search. No biggie, vox and my main weak point also. Good offering! |
| 07-Kris S Wonderwall by Oasis |
Great guitar strumming...expressive and energetic. Other instruments not too shabby either! Great vocals, except one place where they pegged the meter, but that's just an engineering problem. I could easily see this on the radio. No wait, it's a cover... |
| 08-Tim W Nowhere Man by The Beatles |
Liked it! I would have liked to have heard
some fancier guitar strumming, but the vocals more than made up for it.
What great harmonies! Individually and collectively, the voices were excellent.
Very Enjoyable!
As far as the "intro", all I can say is, I remember my first beer too! :-) |

Good guitar and great voice. Great
expressive guitar in the choruses. A most enjoyable song. Seems to fit
well within the vocalist's range. |
| 10-EED (Emily) Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison |
I really like this song, and Emily does it justice. I have never heard an "acoustic" version, but it translates very well. Emily's guitar playing is top-notch, and she has a good voice too. The added keyboard was a nice touch also, and perfectly voiced. I enjoyed listening very much. |
| 12-Dave C Autumn Leaves by Joseph Kosma & Jacques Prévert |
Interesting guitar picking technique. Most notes were picked, then muted. I don't know if this was intentional or not...it can be done by lifting the fret finger slightly after striking the string, or it can be done accidentally by a beginner who doesn't have the chord tightly anchored on the fretboard. I think more forceful and flowing playing would remove this doubt from the listener. |
| 13-Hoaby Just A Little by The Beau Brummels |
MOST excellent! Six thumbs up! If I heard this on the radio I wouldn't know it from the other Brit Invasion gems I love. Fantastic job! Great guitar, great bass, drums, and backgrounds. Production was first rate too, keeping the feel of the engineering of the time. My only negative comment would be the bass drum was too heavy, but that just may be my sound system. | 14-Todd Joker by Steve Miller |
Great new spin on an old classic. Very original idea, and it is pulled off wonderfully. Production is first-rate, good use of stereo effects. Playing and singing is superb. I really enjoyed this entry, and really can't think of anything to complain about. Well done! | 15-Meikow You Won't See Me by The Beatles |
Fantastic song! Very well produced, excellent playing and singing. My only suggestion would be to back off a tad on the distorted guitar's distortion...it seems to break up TOO much. But that's only a minor point. A great offering showing much talent, and very enjoyable to listen to. Two thumbs up! |
| 16-Hazelglow Dreams of Fast Cars by an amalgam of Tracy Chapman & Gabrielle |
Great production and playing. Good voice, but with a clunker or two in there, but that could be corrected with another take. I would have liked a nice, slow percussion track in there, possibly wooden block and hi-hat. Overall, a fine performance and interpretation. Enjoyed it! |
